Course Information


October Theatre Classes

Our Half-term October school is taken by both teachers from our full-time school and also professionals from the theatre world. 

The emphasis of our classes is on vocational development with good training. We aim to build confidence and communication skills. Students do not have to audition to take part and the course is suitable for those with some experience and for those entirely new to theatre. It is also a great opportunity to make new friends in a very happy environment.  

This fun-filled five-day course offers a combined course of theatre classes and offers varying styles in;

  • Drama
  • Audition/drama technique 
  • Singing
  • Singing microphone technique
  • Street dance 
  • Jazz
Times
  • School opens at 9.30 each day.
  • Classes commence at 9.45 each day.
  • Classes end at 4pm.
  • DVD club 4.15-4.50pm.
  • School closes 5.00pm.
Age Groups

Students work in separate groups according to age, but generally our age groupings are 7-8, 9-10,11-12,13-15 and 16+.

General information

School opens at 9.30am every day. Classes commence at 10.15am and end at 4pm. Students being collected by parents/ guardian MUST be collected each day by 5pm. Please do not bring valuables to school as we cannot take responsibility for loss or damage to personal property.

What to Wear

During your time here, we recommend that comfortable clothes and shoes are worn - tracksuit, jazz shoes, trainers etc.

Uniform

Students may purchase SYTS t-shirts during their week if they wish. However, uniforms are NOT compulsory. Students who have ordered SYTS t-shirts uniform can collect during the first day of the course.

Lunch & Break Times

Our cafeteria is run independently by 'CH & Co'. Students can purchase a weekly lunch voucher during online registration. Students may bring packed lunches. Please note: due to certain students suffering from nut allergies, we ask all visitors not to bring nuts or nut products into the school. Only students who are aged 16 and over with a permission note from parents / Guardian may leave the building at lunchtime. Permission notes should be given at reception during registration.
During morning and afternoon breaks, all students can purchase snacks and drinks.

First Aider

Our first-aider/nurse is on duty at all times. Please ensure that they are aware of any problem or medication that your child may need. 

DVD Club

All students may stay on after sessions to watch DVD till 4.50pm if they wish. Students should sign up on arrival each day for the ‘dvd club’.

February Theatre Classes

Our Half-term February (5-day course) course is taken by both teachers from our full-time school and also professionals from the theatre world. 

The emphasis of our classes is on vocational development with good training. We aim to build confidence and communication skills. Students do not have to audition to take part and the course is suitable for those with some experience and for those entirely new to theatre. It is also a great opportunity to make new friends in a very happy environment.

  • Singing Mic Technique
  • Basic Circus Skills

On students' first day, they are introduced to their sessions above. From the second day, students can choose to follow their group's set session or the additional optional classes in Singing/Drama & Dance. A packed timetable full of drama, singing and dance classes.

Extra Classes

During the week there will be free extra classes in singing, drama and dance held after school. Students can sign up on arrival each day for these classes.

Parents are invited to visit their child's classes on the last day of the course, all day or at anytime. Please do not bring valuables to school as we cannot take responsibility for loss or damage to personal property.

Summer Courses

Theatre Classes Course

Our very popular busy five-day course is open to anyone aged 7-18 years and offers a combined course of nonstop theatre classes.

  • Basic Circus Skills

On Monday, students are introduced to their sessions. From Tuesday, students can choose to follow their group's set session or the additional optional classes in Singing/Drama & Dance. A packed timetable full of drama, singing and dance classes.
Parents are invited to visit their child's classes, all day or at anytime during the Friday of each week. Please do not bring valuables to school as we cannot take responsibility for loss or damage to personal property.

Extra Classes

During the week there will be free extra classes in singing, drama and dance between 4.00-4.50pm. Students can sign up to join after-school classes each morning on arrival.

Musical Theatre Course

Our musical theatre courses offer a truly hectic week of rehearsals in preparation for a studio-style workshop performance on Saturday to which parents are invited. Students must be fluent in both reading and spoken English. 

This course is designed for those students with some experience in drama, singing and dance. Students will work together as a group and as a soloist, learning scripted dialogue, choreography/movement and singing. 

The course is open to students aged 10-18 years. 

There are three Musical Theatre groups. Boys and Girls work together as a group on these courses. However, during the booking process they book separately to monitor bookings.

  • 10-11yrs
  • 12-13yrs
  • 14-18yrs

Each group works with their group's Director, Musical Director and Choreographer. The week is both challenging but rewarding.

What do I bring with me?

We ask that all students bring with them the following for their performance;

  • A pair of blue coloured jeans
  • Black bottoms (tracksuit bottoms/leggings/trousers)
  • Black soft footwear
  • Pencil / highlighters for marking scripts and taking notes

Wizard Video

Wizard Video will film each workshop production. An online viewing link will then be sent to each parent to keep. Payment for link is an additional cost and is payable directly to Wizard Video through the online booking system.
