Saturday Classes

General Information

Classes

Classes are 50 minutes in length and are generally divided into age groups: 4-6, 7-10, 11-13 and 14+. However Primary Drama & Singing classes are shorter in length, please refer to the timetable or your receipt. Some dance classes are graded in ability, these classes are marked 'Selected'. Unfortunately new students cannot apply for these classes until assessed.

Drama

Drama classes are based on improvisation and general stagecraft. These lessons develop acting skills through devising scenes and creating characters. Some script work will be introduced. There are also specific scripted classes for older students.

Singing

Singing classes aim to develop technique and repertoire and cover both popular music of the moment and musical theatre.

Street Dance

Street Dance classes are based on high energy movements and combinations to the latest hip hop, pop music.

Jazz / Funky Jazz

Classes offer a mix of traditional style of jazz dance for stage with street style routines. These classes aim to develop style, technique and performance skills.

Tap

The SYTS Syllabus covers all areas from beginners to advanced tap. Classes aim to develop students, rhythm, accent accuracy, style and technique,

Primary

Primary classes offer a combination of Jazz Dance and Tap. New students must select class A.

Parking

Parents should be aware that there is no parking onsite or outside the building. We insist that  Parents should never park in residents parking bays or park on yellow line as this adds to congestion within the area upsetting our residents. Wardens patrol the area be warned you may receive a parking ticket even while waiting. If you must drive your child to classes we strongly suggest that you park  and walk. ‘Pay & Go’ meters and NCP Car Parks are only a 2 minute walk away. The attached PDF will give you a list of all local car parks and meters. Please do take a look at all the information. Parents have agreed during registration that they accept  our parking rules, never parking in residents parking bays or double park within the area.

Re-Registration

Registration is open during the last three weeks of term for Parents to rebook their child’s classes for the following term. Parents will receive an automated email advising them when they can rebook.  Just logon via the website and rebook your child’s current classes. Any student wanting to change or amend their classes MUST see a member of registration staff at the desk to compete your booking. 

Students outside of class times

Parents should be aware that the SYTS are not responsible for students outside of class times. All  primary students MUST be collected by a Parent at the end of class.

Lost Property

The SYTS is not responsible for any lost property or valuables. No jewellery or valuables should be brought to school. 

Cafeteria

We have an onsite cafeteria which sells a wide selection of meals and drinks. The cafeteria will be open to Parents and students from September 2010.
